Inaugural ATA Moving & Storage Conference Annual Event Wraps in Orlando

Arlington, Virginia – The American Trucking Associations’ Moving & Storage Conference successfully concluded its inaugural, annual meeting in Orlando this week, marking its first, in-person national conference since the formation of MSC in 2020. Hundreds of attendees from independent moving companies, van lines, state moving associations and suppliers gathered for a host of educational sessions, panel discussions and committee meetings to chart the future of the moving and storage industry. 

“Congratulations to all of our attendees for making MSC Annual 2022 such an outstanding success,” said MSC Chairman David Marx, President of New World Van Lines. “In such a short amount of time, we’ve watched this conference grow from the ground up into the leading association for America’s vital moving and storage industry.”

Education session and panel discussion topics included FMCSA regulations, labor issues, the economic landscape, and specific challenges facing independent moving companies. 

“We are particularly enthused by the high turnout of independent moving companies who have a found a home in ATA’s Moving & Storage Conference,” said ATA Chairman Harold Sumerford, Jr., CEO of J&M Tank Lines Inc. “This event reflected the growing strength of this conference and the powerful platform it provides its members as we advocate on behalf of the industry.” 

Meetings were held by MSC’s various policy committees and working groups, including the: 

  • Executive Committee;
  • Board of Directors, 
  • Government Affairs Committee;
  • Government Traffic Committee; 
  • Industry Image and Standards Committee;
  • Independent Movers Committee;
  • Safety Working Group;
  • Specialty and High Value Movers Working Group; and the
  • Supplier Committee.
