About the Presenters
Rich Pianka, ATA General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Legal Affairs; ATA Litigation Center Chief Counsel
Rich Pianka is General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Legal Affairs, for the American Trucking Associations, where he advocates on behalf of the industry before Congress and the executive branch on a wide range of legislative and regulatory issues. In addition, as Chief Counsel of the ATA Litigation Center, he is responsible for advancing and defending the interests of motor carriers in the nation's courts, and regularly represents ATA in litigation with broad policy implications for the trucking industry.
Rich came to ATA in 2012 from the general and appellate litigation practice at Mayer Brown LLP. Previously, Rich clerked for Chief Judge Danny J. Boggs of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and is a graduate of Princeton University, the University of Texas at Austin, and the Georgetown University Law Center.
Pamela Bracher, ATA Deputy General Counsel
Pam is Deputy General Counsel for the American Trucking Associations and has 18 years of experience in the transportation industry, specializing in defending truck drivers and motor carriers in highway accident and cargo litigation. She has held leadership positions, managed claims teams, coached high-level claims examiners and paralegals for major transportation companies, and represented and defended trucking companies and drivers in tort litigation in most of the lower 48 states. She joined the American Trucking Associations (ATA) in 2022, where she works to advance the interests of the trucking industry on a range of public policy and regulatory issues, including lawsuit abuse reform, predatory towing reform, and cargo security.
Pam graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law after earning her BA (Political Science) from Emory University and her MPA (Financial Management) from the University of Cincinnati. Pam was in private law practice for almost 10 years prior to her in-house legal roles at leading trucking companies, U.S. Xpress, Inc. and then Knight-Swift Transportation (Mohave Transportation Insurance Company).
