Webinar Description:
This webinar provides a detailed description of an alternative independent contractor model, under which a carrier uses broker or freight forwarder authority to contract with an owner-operator working under his or her own motor carrier authority, in contrast to the more common independent contractor model. It offers a pros and cons assessment of the model and cites case law of recent relevance upon which to forecast potential litigation outcomes. Its significance to states applying an ABC test for determining driver work status is of keen interest following the California Supreme Court’s April 30th Dynamex decision.
