Equipment Maintenance Pros Gather in Orlando for TMC's Fall Event

May 29, 2017

Arlington, Va. – Today, American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council announced it is opening registration for its 2017 Fall Meeting and National Technician Skills Competitions – TMCSuperTech – to be held September 16-21 in Orlando, Fla.

“The work our industry’s technicians do is critical to keeping trucks on the road and moving America’s freight,” ATA President and CEO Chris Spear said. “Events like TMC’s National Technician Skills Competitions – TMCSuperTech – highlight not just that importance, but the proficiency of these highly skilled men and women.”

This year, TMCSuperTech will kick off on September 16 with competitive events for both combination vehicle technicians and trailer technicians, and once again, TMC will provide an opportunity for students from around the country to compete in TMCFutureTech, a skills competition open to post-secondary technical school students.

“Not only does the Fall Meeting let us highlight the skills of these professionals, it gives our industry another opportunity to advance the professional standards of the trucking industry by reviewing and discussing important technical issues related to vehicle maintenance,” said TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell.

The theme of this year’s Fall Meeting is “Unlocking Technology’s Promise,” and to that end will feature technical sessions on implementing new technologies and vehicle securitization, as well as TMC Study Group sessions covering electric trucks, electronic logging devices, wiring, auxiliary power units and much more.

“We’re certainly living through interesting times in our industry and our meeting topics are all about crafting solutions to the environmental, economic and regulatory challenges we face every day,” said Braswell. “Our technician skills competition recognizes the technical achievements of our technicians, whether in service with fleets, leasing companies, dealerships or other service providers. This is an important time to promote those skills and encourage new technicians to join our industry.”

The TMC Fall Meeting will, as always, feature more than 100 Task Forces working on recommended practices, information reports and position papers for fleet maintenance professionals, and TMC’s annual Fleet Talk will provide the opportunity for maintenance and equipment professionals to exchange information related to equipment problems. During the Town Meeting, TMC’s Fleet Operator’s Forum will provide the opportunity for maintenance and equipment professionals to seek redress for unresolved equipment issues they have with manufacturers.
